HARD EDGE MARBLE LIGHTER BY TSUBOTA PEARL

Handcrafted from beginning to end in Tokyo, the Hard Edge lighter is available in two different finishes:

The “marble” finish reproduces a tortoise pattern, using the lighter’s angular surfaces as its canvas. The patterning on the translucent body is spray-painted by hand in multiple layers using floated stencils, then polished to perfection. These mottled gradations are never exactly the same, making each piece unique.

Meanwhile, the “latitude” finish adds a dimensional, ridged design to the casing. The geometric pattern is achieved through a jewelry fabrication method in which patterns are made with a diamond tipped engraving bit. The effect is simultaneously luxurious and utilitarian, carrying a sense of ease.

ABOUT TSUBOTA PEARL

Tsubota Pearl was established in 1952, and is a Tokyo based company producing metal and leather work. The founder Hiroshi Tsubota chose “PEARL” after the world’s first cultured Pearl was invented in Japan, envisioning his products spreading throughout world. All components are made a specialized workshops in and around the Asakusa area of Tokyo.
